The opening of the beak acts as the ashtray where the user would dispense their ashes or store their pipe. It could also be used as a coin tray or ring tray. A mark on the side of the piece says Houston, Texas and features a bull's head. I believe it is made of a copper-colored pot metal or other cheap metal alloy. It is in good condition with no chips or breaks, and has a nice patina to the metal.

Dimensions: 2.5" L x 4" W x 5" H

https://graniteunionauction.com/products/metal-pelican-beak-ashtray-or-pipe-rest-souvenir-of-houston-texas
