Antique second edition of "A Catechism of the History of New-Hampshire, From Its First Settlement to the Present Period; For the Use of Schools and Families" by John Farmer. Published by Hoag and Atwood, Concord, New Hampshire, 1830. This small-format schoolbook presents the history of New Hampshire in a question-and-answer catechism format, covering topics from early settlement and colonial governance through the capture of Hannah Duston, the Willey family slide at the White Mountains, and New Hampshire's governors. The book contains several wood engraving illustrations including a southeast view of the Capitol in Concord, a view of Duston's Island near Concord, and a view of the Notch of the White Mountains. A frontispiece engraving depicting figures captioned "North American Indians" is printed on the front cover.

The interior front cover bears a pencil ownership inscription reading "Chas. H. Barnett, Penacook." The rear cover carries a printed advertisement for Standard School Books published by Hoag & Atwood.

The book shows heavy wear consistent with age and use. The spine is split and largely detached, with the front and rear covers separating from the text block. The covers are soiled and stained with foxing throughout. Pages are toned and show scattered foxing. The text block remains intact. Offered as found given the fragile condition and age of the binding.
