An antique 1/6th plate daguerreotype portrait of a young woman shown in a half-length seated pose with arms crossed, wearing a dark patterned dress with a brooch at the collar. The brass mat has an oval aperture with a beaded inner border and embossed floral corner decoration on the mat surround. Photographed by Chase, 175 Washington Street.

The daguerreotype surface shows significant foxing, silvering loss, scattered white spotting, and surface scratching across the image area. The half leatherette union case shows wear to the covering at the corners and edges.
