Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 072 - Antique 1/6th Plate Daguerreotype Photograph of Two Young Women in Papier-Mache Case with Mother-Of-Pearl Inlay and Hand-Painted Landscape with Ruins
Antique 1/6th plate daguerreotype photograph of two young women seated together, both wearing dark dresses. The image is framed by a brass mat with a floral decoration and an oval aperture. The interior lid features a red velvet pillow with an embossed scroll motif framed by a pierced gilt border. The spine is gilt-stamped "BIJOU."
The papier-mache case features mother-of-pearl inlay and a hand-painted landscape scene on the front cover depicting architectural ruins with trees. The back cover has gold-tooled corner decorations on a black ground, and the page edges are gilt. The case shows some separation at the joints, with wear to the spine ends and surface crazing to the painted cover.
