Antique 1/6th plate tintype photograph of a young man identified by manuscript inscription as Mr. R.T. Bartholomew of Deposit, Broome County, New York. The subject is depicted in a dark suit with a bow tie. The interior of the case lid bears a handwritten inscription reading "Mr. R.T. Bartholomew / Deposit - / Broome - / presented to / his Mother / 1856."

The photograph is housed in a brass mat with a decorative scalloped and beaded border, set within a half leatherette case with embossed decorative borders and a brass clasp. The case interior is lined in red velvet. The tintype shows spotting and surface deterioration across the plate, with scattered dark spots and emulsion loss. The case exterior shows wear to the leather covering with scuffing and edge wear. The display stand shown in the photographs is not included.
