This antique 1/6th plate tintype photograph depicts two children, presented in a full split leatherette case. The tintype shows a boy and girl in dark Victorian-era clothing. The case interior features red embossed velvet with "ARTIST" and "G.E. HALL" visible in the decorative design. The photograph is set within a decorative brass mat. Identified on the verso as Miriam and Joe Jones. The case is marked to G.E. Hall, Artist, Detroit, Michigan. George Evelyn Hall operated from 1851 to 1855, but it isl likely the tintype dates later and the case was re-used, given the dates Hall was active. The leatherette case shows wear consistent with age. The tintype exhibits light surface scratches and minor tarnishing around the edges typical of the medium.
