Lot 066 - Antique 1880s Leather-Bound Autograph Book Belonging to J. U. Beam with Calligraphic Bird Drawing, Signatures from Farmington, New Hampshire and Wellesley, Massachusetts, 6-3/4" W
A notable page features an elaborate calligraphic pen-and-ink drawing of birds with sweeping flourishes, signed "Chas. A. Supple Jr." and dated September 12, 1885, Farmington, New Hampshire. Additional signers include Ella N. Bickford of Farmington, New Hampshire, dated January 16, 1886; John M. Varney of Farmington, New Hampshire, dated February 13, 1886; Lizzie V. Roberts of Arthur, North Dakota; and Marion Helena Haskell Ober of Wellesley, Massachusetts, dated September 14, 1897.
The leather covers show surface wear and scuffing. The spine is worn with some looseness at the hinges. Interior pages show toning and occasional edge wear, with some pages torn or loosened from the binding.
