The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.

Antique 1/9th plate ruby ambrotype photograph of a young woman in dark attire, with hand-tinted rosy cheeks. The image is housed in a brass mat within a full intact thermoplastic union case with scroll and floral motif and a red velvet pillow. Photographed by Davis Brothers, 8 Daniel Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 1859, as identified by a printed label on the reverse of the photograph.
The case interior bears a printed paper label reading "Improved Union Cases. S. Peck's Patent, October 3, 1854. S. Peck & Co., Of New Haven, Ct." Genuine Union Case patented by S. Peck, 1854.
The image is clear with good contrast. The case is intact with functioning hinges and clasp.
