Wooden shipping box for Bixby's "Best" Blacking shoe polish by S.M. Bixby & Co., 173 Washington Street, New York City. The interior of the hinged lid retains a color-printed label reading "Bixby's 'Best' Blacking" and "New York City," with a central vignette captioned "New York Boot Black Brigade" depicting bootblacks at work in a city park setting. The label is credited to D.A. Woodworth. The front of the box bears a circular label with a building vignette and "S.M. Bixby & Co." text. Stenciled lettering is faintly visible on the exterior.

The inner lid label shows scattered graphic losses, surface soiling, and paper lifting at the edges. The wooden box shows overall wear, scuffing, and staining consistent with age and use.
