Lot 131 - Antique Cast Metal Rococo-Style Inkstand with Cherub Finial, Glass Ink Insert, Hinged Lid, and Shell-Form Pen Tray, 8" L
Antique cast metal inkstand in the Rococo style, featuring a single inkwell with a hinged domed lid and an adjacent shell-form pen tray. The stand is heavily ornamented with scrollwork, floral rosettes, and pierced openwork throughout, raised on scrolled feet. A cherub figure surmounts the rear crest of the stand. The inkwell retains its glass ink insert. The lid and body of the inkwell are decorated with cartouche and foliate motifs in relief.
The piece shows an aged patina with tarnish and oxidation across the surface, along with minor wear to the high points of the casting. The swing away hinge on the lid is intact and functional.
