Antique oil-burning carriage lantern marked "Dietz" and "Union Driving Lamp" with "New York" on the rear plate. Manufactured by R.E. Dietz, New York. The lamp features a hinged front door with a bullseye glass lens set in a brass bezel, a concave reflector behind the burner, and a red glass bull's-eye in the rear plate. The body is black-painted steel with a double-tiered smoke cap, wire bail handle, and a Dietz-marked fuel adjustment thumb wheel on the base.

The lamp shows heavy paint loss and surface rust throughout, with scratching on the front lens and rear red glass. The burner is present. The mounting bracket is intact on the underside.
