Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 039 - Antique Embossed Halloween Greetings Postcard with Jack-O-Lantern-Headed Boy, Black Cat, and Moon-Face Kite, Tartan Border, Series No. 2401, Printed in Germany, Postmarked 1913
Antique embossed Halloween postcard reading "Hallowe'en Greetings," depicting a Jack-O-Lantern-headed boy flying a kite with a moon face framed in a stone archway, a black cat with a red bow seated beside a pumpkin and fruit, and pink floral sprays surrounding the diamond-shaped kite vignette. The card features a tartan plaid border and an embossed floral pattern on the background.
The verso is marked "Series No. 2401" and "Printed in Germany" with a trade mark emblem. The card bears a one-cent Washington stamp postmarked October 30, 1913, from Illinois, and is addressed to Portland, Oregon. A handwritten message is present on the correspondence side.
The card shows edge wear with a small chip at the upper right corner and general toning on the verso.
