Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

An antique hand-colored engraving print of the vue d'optique ("optical view") type, designed for viewing through a zograscope or diagonal mirror optical device. The print depicts a panoramic view of the Pont au Change in Paris, with the Seine in the foreground populated by working boats, flat-bottomed barges, and floating riverside structures, with the bridge and its flanking buildings extending across the middle ground and towers of the Conciergerie visible at left. The lower margin carries three inscriptions: the Latin title "Pons Argentariorum Parisus" ("Bridge of the Money-Changers, Paris") at left, the series designation "84e Vue d'Optique Representant" ("84th Optical View Depicting") at center, and the French title "Le Pont au Change a Paris" ("The Pont au Change in Paris") at right. The publisher's imprint reads "A Paris chez Daumont rue St. Martin" ("In Paris at Daumont's, rue Saint-Martin"). Hand-coloring is applied in blue, green, and terracotta tones to the sky, rooftops, and figural elements.
The print is housed in an ebonized flat frame. The paper shows overall toning, foxing, and a small area of paper loss or separation at the lower right corner of the printed image. The frame shows wear consistent with age.
