Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 001 - Antique Hearse Carriage Lamp with Draped Curtain Design and Red Jewel Lens, Manufactured by White Mfg. Co, Bridgeport, Connecticut, Circa 1900, 24" H
This antique hearse carriage lamp features a polished metal body with ornately rendered draped curtains on three sides and red glass jewel lens on one opposing panel and a glass window opposite. The lamp has a brass-tone dome top with decorative pierced swag border trim. The body sits atop turned brass fittings and mounts.
Marked "WHITE M'F'G CO BRIDGEPORT, CT." inside the lamp. The lamp has been fitted with a custom base constructed from a wood block with metal rod support. The interior of the lamp contains a spring mechanism designed for automatic candle lifting as the candle burns down, though the cap component for this mechanism is absent. The lamp accepts standard tapered candles.
The metal surfaces show age-related patina and surface wear, small holes, and other minor losses. The red glass lens and clear windows remain intact. The custom wooden base shows wear consistent with use.
