Antique Japanese clay figural incense burner (koro) in the form of a seated man with an open mouth. The figure is dressed in layered kimono robes with a polka dot pattern and holds a small vessel in one hand, with a black inro suspended at his waist by a cord. The head is partially shaved with black hair painted at the sides and back in a traditional chonmage style. The base features a molded scrolling pattern. The body is hollow with an open bottom.

Polychrome paint is present throughout in muted tones of gray, green, yellow, and flesh. Paint loss and chipping are present across the surface, with exposed clay visible in several areas on the robes, base, and head.
