Lot 116 - Antique M. Melachrino & Co. Egyptian Cigarettes No. 4 Tin Lithograph 50-Count Cigarette Tin, Cairo, Egypt
Antique tin lithograph cigarette tin from M. Melachrino & Co. Incorporated, Cairo, Egypt. The hinged-lid tin held 50 No. 4 Egyptian cigarettes and is printed on all sides with the company name, royal appointment crests, Egyptian figure vignettes, and the registered donkey trademark. The front reads "Manufactory of the Best Egyptian Cigarettes" with depot addresses in London and Alexandria, and the sides are marked "The Cigarette Elect of All Nations" with city listings for Cairo, New York, Montreal, and London. The lid interior is printed in red and gold with the original factory Cairo designation and additional crests.
Condition shows overall graphic loss and oxidation to the tin surfaces, with scratching and scuffing throughout. The hinged lid is intact and functional. The interior is empty with general age-related patina.
