Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 021 - Antique Oil Painting On Canvas, Mount Washington From The Saco River, White Mountains, New Hampshire, Hudson River School Autumn Landscape With Snow-Capped Presidential Range, 22-3/4" x 13-3/4"
Antique oil painting on canvas depicting Mount Washington and the Presidential Range as seen from the Saco River, likely from the North Conway Intervale area of New Hampshire. The composition features snow-capped peaks rising above layered foothills, autumn foliage in red and gold tones flanking both sides of the river, and a calm, reflective waterway in the foreground with an exposed sandy bank at right. This combination of early snow on the summit with full autumn color along the Saco was one of the most frequently painted subjects in 19th-century American landscape art, repeated by dozens of Hudson River School and White Mountain School artists working from this same vantage point throughout the second half of the 1800s.
The painting is housed in a gilded frame with repeating scroll and acanthus molding. The paint surface shows widespread craquelure throughout, a hole in the upper right tree area, and a loss with abrasion at center. The frame shows scattered losses to the gilt surface, including chips at the upper left and right corners, along with general wear consistent with age.
