Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 085 - Antique Portrait Photo Album Containing 15 Tintype Photographs and 29 C.D.V. Photographs, Including Hand-Tinted Tintype Examples, note binding in poor condition
This antique photograph album contains a collection of 44 19th century photographs, comprising 15 tintype photographs and 29 carte de visite photographs. The album features leather covers with elaborate gilt tooling and floral vine decoration surrounding a central recessed cartouche on the front board, with gauffered edges. The spine displays ribbed gilt decoration with dual brass clasps. The title page reads "The Photograph Album." Among the contents are two notably hand-tinted tintype photographs: one depicting a seated woman in clerical dress holding a book, and another showing a standing woman in an elaborate ruffled Victorian dress with parasol. The album is in poor condition with the page block almost completely detached from the binding. The covers show significant wear and loss to the leather surface, particularly along the edges and corners. Missing cover bosses on both front and back covers.
