This is a police arrest card featuring a mounted photograph depicting Martin Mulkern in profile and frontal views, with prisoner number 5845 visible on the frontal photograph. The card includes printed and handwritten information from the Massachusetts Reformatory, Concord, Massachusetts, registration number 5845. Mulkern was arrested for breaking and entering out of Suffolk County and received an indeterminate sentence. His occupation is listed as gas fitter's helper, descent as Irish, and age as 19 years, born in Massachusetts. Descriptive details record medium chestnut hair, sallow complexion, weight of 128 pounds, and medium build. Known or admitted former imprisonment is listed as Deer Isle, three times. The reverse records an extensive list of marks, scars, and moles including a mole above the mouth, multiple scars on the hands and fingers, scars at the roots of hair across the forehead, and a notation at the corner of the left ear. Measured at Concord, September 16, 1893, by W.W. Blossom. Photograph and card show age toning, edge wear, and surface marks consistent with age and handling.
