Antique solid brass gas wall fixture backplate in the form of a lion's head surrounded by a radiating sunburst. The lion's open mouth features a threaded central opening sized to accept a gas lamp jet or burner tip. Mounting holes are present at the tips of the rays for wall attachment.

The threaded opening and its small diameter are consistent with a gas fitting rather than a water pipe connection, and the decorative sunburst surround suggests an interior architectural application. While lion-head forms are common across both gas fixtures and fountain spouts, the scale and threading of this example support identification as a gas wall fixture component.

The brass shows overall patina and surface oxidation consistent with age.
