When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Antique original illustration by Walter King Stone, signed and dated 1912 in the lower right corner. The work depicts a winter mountain landscape with snow-covered fields, evergreen trees, and mountains in the background. This illustration was reproduced on page 240 of "Barn Doors and Byways" by Walter Prichard Eaton, published in 1913.
A typed label affixed to the verso reads: "This picture is portrayed in the book 'BARN DOORS AND BYWAYS by Walter Prichard Eaton. It is on page 240. The illustration is by Walter King Stone. 1913." The artist's signature also appears in pencil on the verso. Accompanying the illustration are photocopied pages from the book showing the reproduced image and corresponding text, along with a printed identification card reading "Walter King Stone" and "Barn Doors and Byways."
The illustration shows toning, surface soil, and edge wear. The paper is covered with cellophane. Unframed.
