- When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
- The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
- When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
- Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 132 - Antique Wooden Fraternal Ballot Box with Clay Voting Balls, 14" L
Antique wooden fraternal ballot box with turned handle, used for secret membership voting. The box features a split hinged lid that opens to reveal two compartments separated by an internal divider with a round hole. A funnel-shaped wooden tube in the ballot compartment allowed a member to drop a ball through while concealing the vote, with the ball falling into the lower receiving compartment accessible from the opposite side. The box is fitted with brass hinges and sits on a molded base. Included with a quantity of clay voting balls in white, tan, brown, and black.
The box shows overall wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratches, scuffs, staining, and finish loss throughout. The wood remains structurally sound and the hinges are intact.
