Antique wrought iron toggle harpoon head, dating to the mid-19th century. The toggle head is mounted on a conical iron shaft socket with remnants of rope lashing at the base, showing the method of fastening the line directly to the harpoon shaft rather than through an iron ring. The toggle mechanism consists of a pivoting barbed head designed to turn sideways upon penetration. An accompanying dealer's tag initialed "RPK" and numbered "F11L01036" is tied to the shaft.

The wrought iron shows overall oxidation and surface pitting consistent with age. The rope remnants at the shaft base are deteriorated and fragmentary.
