"First Aid to the Injured," the authorised textbook of the St. John Ambulance Association, originally compiled by Colonel Sir James Cantlie, K.B.E., M.A., M.B., F.R.C.S., V.D., and revised by committees in 1917 and 1928. Published by The St. John Ambulance Association, St. John's Gate, Clerkenwell, London, 1933. Thirty-eighth edition, tenth reprint. The book covers a syllabus of adult instruction in first aid across six lectures, with chapters on fractures, circulation of the blood, wounds, poisons, and transport of the injured. Illustrated throughout with anatomical diagrams and includes a fold-out color plate depicting the skeletal system and arterial pressure points. The front cover and rear cover are stamped with the eight-pointed ambulance cross surrounded by the association's eight qualities: Observation, Tact, Resource, Dexterity, Sympathy, Perseverance, Discrimination, and Explicitness.

The black cloth binding shows edge and corner wear with rubbing to the boards. The text block and fold-out plate are intact.
