Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 097 - Grouping of 14 Vintage Snapshot Photographs of Costumes, Masks, and Oddities Including Grim Reaper Painted Smock, Barber Shop Gag Scene, and Camp Blanding Military Stunt
Grouping of 14 vintage snapshot photographs depicting costumes, masks, and humorous or unusual subjects. Two photographs show a man identified on verso as Wallace Garland wearing a smock hand-painted with a Grim Reaper skeleton and gravestones, photographed from the front and back. Other subjects include a child in adults clothes posed beside a tree, a close-up portrait of a person wearing a grotesque mask, a staged barber shop scene with a "$1,000 Reward Dead or Alive" poster on the wall, a bearded man holding a bird, a soldier hanging by his teeth from a wooden frame, and additional scenes.
One photograph of the soldier at a military tent camp is inscribed on verso "One of the fellows in my battery hanging by his teeth. In Camp Blanding." Several photographs have deckle-edge borders. The photographs exhibit age-related toning, edge wear, and some corner losses.
