Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 096 - Grouping of Four Antique Board-Mounted and Cabinet Card Photographs Including Hand-Painted Watercolor Surround Portrait of Ida Gertrude Perley, 1861, and Denman Thompson's "Old Homestead" Theater Scene, Photographed by Falk, New York
Grouping of four antique photographs comprising board-mounted and cabinet card formats.
The most notable piece is a board-mounted photograph of a young girl seated in a wheeled carriage, surrounded by an elaborate hand-painted watercolor oval vignette depicting an outdoor scene with trees, decorative iron fence, tiled ground, and birds. The verso is inscribed in period hand: "Ida Gertrude Perley, Born April 16th, 1859, Likeness taken April 16th, 1861, Aged two years." Additional inscription notes the difficulty of getting the child to sit still and comments on the accuracy of the likeness. Staining is present on the mount.
A cabinet card photograph depicts a theatrical scene from Denman Thompson's "Old Homestead," printed below the image as "Scene from Denman Thompson's 'Old Homestead,' photographed by Electric Light in the 14th St. Theatre, March 27, 1887." Photographed by Falk, 949 Broadway, New York. The mount shows soiling and corner wear.
A cabinet card photograph depicts two men standing in a Victorian parlor interior beside a draped table with glasses, a framed "Welcome" sign and mounted antlers on the wall behind them. No photographer imprint is visible. The mount shows edge wear and soiling.
A board-mounted photograph depicts a cemetery with headstones and a stone church ruin with bell tower amid trees. The photograph shows significant fading and discoloration, and the mount has edge wear and soiling. The display stand shown in the photographs is not included.
