Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 035 - Grouping of Four Antique Books Including "Pericles and Aspasia" Limited Edition No. 105, 1903, and "Report of the State Botanist" 1895 with Color Mushroom Plates
Grouping of four antique books. The lot includes "Pericles and Aspasia" by Walter Savage Landor, privately printed for the Scott-Thaw Co., New York, 1903, copy No. 105 of a limited edition of 210 copies printed for the United States. Green cloth and linen binding with a frontispiece portrait of Landor and decorative title page. Also included is "Report of the State Botanist," University of the State of New York, 1895, in green cloth binding with the New York state seal, containing color lithograph plates of edible fungi drawn by C.H. Peck. The remaining two volumes are a copy of "The Antiquities of Sefton Church" and an antique architectural volume, both in worn leather bindings.
Condition shows wear throughout. The "Pericles and Aspasia" volume has a torn and detached spine and foxing. The "Report of the State Botanist" has cover soiling and loose pages. The two leather-bound volumes show heavy wear with rubbed and deteriorated bindings, bumped corners, and general age-related damage.
