Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 119 - Grouping of Four Antique Hidden Mother Tintype Photographs of Young Children and Infants
Grouping of four antique tintype photographs, each depicting a young child or infant posed with a hidden figure draped beneath cloth or fabric to steady the child during exposure. The first shows an infant in a white christening gown propped against a draped figure on a red-tinted background. The second depicts a toddler in a polka-dot dress seated on a patterned chair or platform, with a draped figure visible behind. The third shows a smiling young child in a white lace-trimmed dress seated on a fur-covered surface with a hidden figure beneath dark drapery. The fourth depicts a young child in a dark polka-dot dress seated in a chair with a partially concealed figure behind.
All four tintypes are uncased. The plates show scratching, bending, and surface wear throughout. Several plates have been trimmed or cut irregularly along the edges.
