Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Grouping of six antique and vintage German-language illustrated children's books in hardcover bindings. The lot includes "Firlefanz" ("Tomfoolery"), with rhymes by Hans Watzlik and illustrations by Ernst Kutzer, published by Gebrueder Stiepel Ges. m. b. H., Reichenberg, 1922, Verlags-Nr. 55. This copy bears a handwritten Christmas 1922 inscription from Reichenberg reading "Liebes Gretchen! Dies Buch sei Dir eine Erinnerung an die Heimat Deines Vaters; zwei deutschboehmische Kuenstler schufen es. Weihnachten 1922 - Reichenberg. Deine Tante Lilli Osborne" ("Dear Gretchen! Let this book be a reminder of your father's homeland; two German-Bohemian artists created it. Christmas 1922 - Reichenberg. Your Aunt Lilli Osborne"). The book contains full-page color plates and black-and-white vignettes throughout, with decorative printed endpapers.
Also included are "Hans Huckebein, der Ungluecksrabe" ("Hans Huckebein, the Unlucky Raven") with "Das Pusterohr" ("The Blowpipe") and "Das Bad am Samstag Abend" ("The Saturday Evening Bath") by W. Busch, published in Stuttgart; "Die Reise in's Schlaraffenland" ("The Journey to the Land of Cockaigne") illustrated by Wolf Holst; "Kinder-Humor fuer Augen und Ohren, Auswahl" ("Children's Humor for Eyes and Ears, Selection") with illustrations by Gertrud und Walther Caspari, published by Alfred Hahn's Verlag in Leipzig; "Kindersang" ("Children's Song") with musical settings by Bernhard Scholz; and "Vom ungehorsamen Jockel" ("Of the Disobedient Jockel"). Several volumes bear pencil notations reading "DUNN 4316" on their covers.
Condition varies across the group. Covers show soiling, edge wear, rubbing, and some spine damage. Interior pages show age toning and occasional foxing. The books are offered as found and should be reviewed for completeness, as individual volumes have not been collated page by page.
