Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 059 - Pair of Antique Apollinaris Natural Mineral Water Bottles with Original Contents, Rhenish Prussia, Germany, Sole Agents the Apollinaris Company Limited, London, 9-1/2" H each
A pair of antique dark green glass mineral water bottles retaining their original cork stoppers and paper labels, each labeled "Apollinaris Natural Mineral Water, Rhenish Prussia, Germany," with the sole agent identified as The Apollinaris Company, Limited, 4 Stratford Place, Oxford Street, London W. The labels feature a central engraved vignette of a natural spring landscape with lush foliage and birds. Text panels note "Each Cork is Branded 'The Apollinaris Company, Limited'" and instruct "This Bottle Should Be Laid on Its Side in a Cool Place." A lower advertisement strip references the company also supplying a natural aperient bottled in Hungary. Both bottles retain their original contents.
Both labels show heavy soiling, staining, tearing, and losses consistent with age and storage. The glass surfaces show overall grime and encrustation. One bottle retains a wire closure element at the neck.
