Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 190 - Pair Of Antique Revolving Chromolithograph Pages From “Surprising Pictures For Little Folk” By Ernest Nister, Sheep Dog Pastoral Scene And Children At Play, Circa 1890s
Pair of antique chromolithograph revolving picture pages removed from the late 19th century children’s book "Surprising Pictures for Little Folk" by Ernest Nister. Each page features a central circular rotating mechanism that changes the illustrated scene when turned, showcasing Nister’s celebrated novelty paper engineering and richly colored chromo-lithographic printing.
One page depicts a pastoral sheepdog vignette, while the other shows two children at play, both with period verse printed below the image. The pages have been removed from the original book at an unknown date and later backed with paper tape along the reverse for stabilization and preservation. Visible wear includes edge toning, scattered surface marks, small losses, creases, and age-related paper softening consistent with late 19th century illustrated children’s material.
Offered together as a group. An attractive pair of original Nister revolving illustrations suitable for framing, study, or collection of antique movable books and children’s ephemera.
