Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 200 - Pair Of Antique Theodore Roosevelt Books: "The Life Of Theodore Roosevelt" By Wm. Draper Lewis, Ph.D., 1919, And "Roosevelt's Thrilling Experiences In The Wilds Of Africa: Hunting Big Game"
Pair of antique early 20th-century volumes chronicling the life and exploits of Theodore Roosevelt. The first, titled "The Life of Theodore Roosevelt" by Wm. Draper Lewis, Ph.D., includes an introduction by former President William H. Taft and was published by The United Publishers of the United States and Canada, 1919. Illustrated with photographs and plates throughout, bound in dark green cloth with gilt lettering and a photographic portrait of Roosevelt mounted to the front cover. Binding wear and light fraying to spine ends; overall structurally sound.
The second volume, titled "Roosevelt’s Thrilling Experiences in the Wilds of Africa: Hunting Big Game," is in craft-grade condition with severe wear to covers, surface abrasions, loss to illustration panel, and weakened binding. This companion piece focuses on Roosevelt’s famous African safari, illustrated with hunting scenes and depictions of African wildlife. Both volumes display wear consistent with age and handling, offering an evocative portrait of Roosevelt’s adventurous life and public legacy.
