Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 139 - Pair of Vintage Handmade Wooden Folk Art Novelty Items Including "Leave Note Inside" House-Form Note Box and "Tax Shelter" Nail Holder
Two handmade wooden folk art novelty items. The first is a house-form note box with a peaked roof, hinged front door with a white porcelain knob, and a metal latch on the right side. The base is carved with the text "Leave Note Inside," and a string loop is affixed to the interior back wall. The exterior is finished in a dark brown stain. The second is a small open-front wooden shelter with "Tax Shelter" carved on the front, containing two upright nails mounted through the base.
The note box shows surface scratches, scuffs, and paint wear throughout, with exposed raw wood at several edges and on the roof. The "Tax Shelter" piece has light soiling and foxing-type spotting on the unfinished wood surfaces.
