Antique religious book titled "The Altar Service Book," published by subscription, New York, MDCCCLXXXII (1882), printed at the Chiswick Press, Charles Whittingham, Tooks Court, Chancery Lane, London. Bound in leather with raised spine ribs, gilt edges, and gilt decorative design on interior cover borders. Includes etched metal protective corner plates and a working metal clasp. Interior features thick textured paper with heavy black and red decorative printing, silk fabric endpapers, red-bordered pages, ornate drop caps, and a list of subscribers including bishops, churches, and reverends. Foxing to pages throughout. Wear to edges of spine and covers consistent with age and use.
