"The Complete Works of Alfred Tennyson," antique illustrated edition published by R. Worthington, New York, 1878. Hardcover with embossed gilt illustration and lettering on the spine and front cover featuring a lute motif and gilt foredge. Includes several inserted pieces of ephemera: newspaper clippings of Tennyson’s poetry, a handwritten note listing names and numbers, and a color trade card for Miss C. H. Lippincott, Minneapolis, Minnesota, advertising flower seeds dated 1898. Pages printed in two columns with red pinstriped borders and illustrated with scenes of women in expressive poses. Minor foxing throughout; wear and tear to edges of covers and spine consistent with age.
