Antique illustrated natural history book titled "The Menageries: Quadrupeds, Described and Drawn from Living Subjects," Vol. I, Part I of The Library of Entertaining Knowledge series. Published under the superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. Published by Wells and Lilly, Court-Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 1830. The text is illustrated with wood engraving prints of quadrupeds including dogs, a striped hyena, and anatomical diagrams.
An ownership inscription reading "R.A.R. Robinson" is written on the inside front cover. The book is in soft printed wraps. The spine is heavily worn with exposed stitching, and the covers show edge chipping and losses. Pages are toned throughout with foxing and staining.
