Antique early American children’s book titled "The Mirror; or, Eighteen Juvenile Tales and Dialogues" by a Lady of Philadelphia, published by Munroe and Francis, and Charles S. Francis, New York, 1828. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece depicting a domed public building, likely the Massachusetts State House. Preface notes the author’s intent to create an “essentially American” work, distinct from English moral literature, modeled after Berquin’s *Children’s Friend*. Bound in original green paper boards with decorative frame design and leather spine. Exhibits rubbing, corner wear, and age-related toning and foxing. A scarce example of early 19th-century American juvenile moral instruction literature.
