Early nineteenth-century devotional and instructional work by John S.C. Abbott, focusing on the Christian mother’s role in guiding children through discipline, moral education, and faith. Illustrated frontispiece engraving depicts a mother with a child on her lap, captioned: “Takes Mary in her lap and says ‘My dear are you sorry that you disobeyed mother?’” (Page 32).
