Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 100 - Trio of Antique Board-Mounted Photographs of Group Portraits, Including Seven Men Photographed by Geo. E. Mitchell's Gallery of Art, Lowell, Massachusetts, a Large Military or Militia Group with Rifles, and Ten Men on Building Steps
Trio of antique board-mounted group portrait photographs. The first depicts seven men arranged in two rows in a studio setting, four seated with arms crossed and three standing behind, mounted on a tan board with an embossed studio stamp on the verso reading "Geo. E. Mitchell's Gallery of Art, 80 Merrimack Street, Lowell, Massachusetts." The second depicts a large group of uniformed men, estimated at several dozen, posed outdoors in a field in two rows, several holding rifles, wearing broad-brimmed campaign hats consistent with late 19th or early 20th century military or militia dress. The third depicts ten men arranged on the stone steps of a building with an arched entrance, posed in three rows, mounted on a tan board.
Condition varies. The first example shows significant fading, foxing, tearing, and board separation. The second and third examples show toning and surface wear consistent with age. The display stand shown is not included.
