When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Trio of three antique hardcover books. "The Right Princess" by Clara Louise Burnham, published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company, The Riverside Press, Cambridge, 1902, in green cloth boards with gilt lettering and floral design; a heart-shaped "Greetings from St. Valentine" card is tucked inside. "The Magic Carpet: Poems for Travellers," selected and compiled by Mrs. Waldo Richards, published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston and New York, The Riverside Press, Cambridge, in blue cloth boards with gilt ship vignette and lettering. "Elizabeth and Her German Garden" in red cloth boards with silver rose wreath design on the front cover.
All three books show general wear including rubbing and soiling to covers, bumped corners, and fraying at spine ends. "The Magic Carpet" has staining to the front cover and foxing to interior pages. "The Right Princess" has spotting on the covers and loosening at the front hinge.
