Vintage framed polychrome print of "Jesus Christus," also known as "St. Veronica's Handkerchief," after the 1876 painting by Austrian artist Gabriel Max. The print depicts the face of Christ with closed eyes, crown of thorns, and blood drops, rendered on a simulated cloth veil against a dark background. Printed text below the image reads "If You Watch the Eyes Closely, They Will Suddenly Open!" followed by additional text noting the use of 14 colors and identifying the work as a copy of the original painting by Gabriel Max. Printed by The House of Art, New York, and marked "Printed in U.S.A." in the lower left. The reverse bears a gold foil retailer's label for Mickelson's, 709 G St. N.W., Washington, D.C. The print is housed in a wood frame with rope-twist molding. The print shows light toning and minor surface soiling. The frame shows light wear at the edges.
