Lot 111 - Antique 1/6th Plate Daguerreotype Photograph In Half Leatherette Union Case, Young Woman In Dark Dress With White Collar And Brooch
Antique 1/6th plate daguerreotype photograph of a young woman with center-parted dark hair, seated with hands folded. She wears a dark dress with a pleated bodice, white collar, and a small brooch at the throat, with white undersleeves visible at the wrists. The image is housed behind a scalloped brass mat with a decorative floral preserver, in the image half of a leatherette union case lined with red velvet. The cover half is not present.
The plate shows tarnish along the edges extending into the image area, with light haze at center. The brass mat and preserver are intact. The clasp is present but the cover half is absent. The remaining case half shows wear and losses to the leatherette covering. Display stand shown in photograph is not included.
