An antique apothecary jar with a reverse-painted glass label reading "Ac. Tannic" — an abbreviation for Acidum Tannicum, or Tannic Acid, a plant-derived astringent used in pharmacy to treat inflammation, hemorrhage, and burns, and as an antidote in cases of heavy metal poisoning. The label is rendered in black lettering with ruled border lines and a swooping decorative rule on a gold ground, applied to the interior surface of the glass. The jar is fitted with a ground glass disk stopper. Manufactured by Whitall Tatum Company, U.S.A.

The interior shows heavy surface deposits, crazing, and orange-brown residue streaking across the body and base. The label retains legibility despite significant crazing and losses to the gold ground. The stopper is present and intact.

Dimensions: 3-5/8" L x 3-5/8" W x 9-1/2" H
