Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 126 - Antique Cabinet Card Photograph Of A Middle-Aged Man In Dark Ceremonial Robe With Black Cross, Cap Bearing Cross-And-Triangle Devices, Holding A Book, Photographed By Veeder, Albany, New York
An antique cabinet card photograph depicting a middle-aged man with a mustache wearing a full-length dark ceremonial robe with a black cross on the chest and a cape overlay, and a flat cap bearing a device of three downward-pointing triangles each containing a cross. He holds an open book in his left hand and stands before a studio backdrop with balustrade and column elements. The cross-and-triangle devices are consistent with both Christian Trinitarian symbolism and late 19th century esoteric fraternal regalia. The mount bears the photographer's imprint in script at the lower left and right: "Veeder / Albany, N.Y." with a decorative monogram at center.
Photographed by Veeder, Albany, New York.
Condition includes toning to the mount, light foxing spots to the upper mount area, and minor edge wear consistent with age.
