Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 103 - Antique Cabinet Card Photograph Of A Soldier Of The 3rd Nebraska Infantry Regiment, Identified On Verso As Lieutenant Perry, Possibly Lieutenant Charles H. Perry, Spanish American War Era, Baumann, Photographer, Grand Island, Nebraska
Pre-Auction Notes: Original cabinet card portrait of a U.S. Army soldier in full dress uniform, wearing the insignia of a First Sergeant (three chevrons with a diamond above). His cap bears crossed rifles with a “3” above and an “N” below, denoting service in the 3rd Nebraska Infantry Regiment of the Nebraska National Guard, later mustered for the Spanish–American War in 1898. The verso bears the period inscription “Lieutenant Perry,” suggesting that the sitter was later promoted to officer rank. Photographed by Baumann, Grand Island, Nebraska. A crisp and historically significant image tied to a regiment once commanded by William Jennings Bryan.
