An antique cast iron figural dish in the form of a cat's head with pointed ears, molded facial features, and a shallow dished interior. The bottom is embossed with the Westmoreland Malleable Iron maker's mark. Westmoreland Malleable Iron of Westmoreland, New York, was originally founded as Oakhill Malleable Iron Company in 1833 and established under its present name in 1850 by Erastus W. Clark. The firm was recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as the oldest malleable iron company in continuous operation in the United States for many years, and is designated as A.S.M.E.
