Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 001 - Antique Folk Art Oil Painting on Board, "The Braves in Council Before the Mighty Woksis," Discoverer of Maple Sugar, Painted by Fred F. Abbott, Biddeford, Maine, February 1922, 20" W x 24" H
An antique folk art oil painting on board depicting a council scene with six figures gathered around a large earthen kettle over an open fire, set against a wooded landscape with distant hills. The central standing figure, adorned with feathered headdress, beaded necklace, decorated sash, and moccasins, raises one arm skyward while five seated figures look on, each dressed in robes and headdresses with feathers. The artist's signature is visible in the lower right of the painted surface.
The reverse of the board bears handwritten inscription identifying the title and artist, and is fitted with a sheet of glass to display and protect the verso. Affixed to the reverse is a printed paper clipping titled "The Legend of Woksis — Discoverer of Maple Sugar," a narrative poem recounting the legend of Woksis, a Wabanaki chief, and his squaw Moqua's accidental discovery of maple sugar while boiling maple sap in an earthen vessel. The work is presented in a wood frame with gilt inner liner.
Condition is consistent with age. The upper right corner of the reverse glass is absent. The painted surface shows crazing and abrasion throughout. The paper backing shows bubbling, tearing, and soiling. Frame shows wear.
