An antique panoramic photograph depicting a fire department demonstration on 3rd Avenue South in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, circa 1917. At center, a tall extension ladder is fully raised with multiple firemen positioned along its length. Several early motorized fire apparatus are lined up along the street, including "S.F.D." lettering and one marked "Chief Fire Dept." Horse-drawn equipment and mounted riders are visible at far left, and a large crowd of spectators lines both sides of the street. Multi-story commercial buildings rise in the background, and to the right stands a church or former church building bearing signage for "Palace Auction & Sales Rooms" and "A.S. Walker Auctioneer." The photograph is housed in a wooden frame with a gilt inner border, under glass. A handwritten inscription on the reverse reads "Fire Dept, Saskatoon, Sask, Canada - Approx 1917 / 3rd Ave S. between 21st and 22nd, looking north. / Fred C. Bilow - third from top of ladder." The photograph exhibits light toning and the frame shows wear with minor losses to the gilt finish.
