This antique framed photograph depicts a woman seated in a chair, wearing a dark Victorian-era dress with a bonnet or cap. The photograph has an arched top format and is mounted on a brown mat within an elaborate multi-layered frame. The outer frame is dark wood with a simple molded profile. The inner frame features ornate gilt decoration with multiple bands of relief ornament including scrollwork, foliate patterns, and beaded borders.

The photograph shows the woman in three-quarter pose, seated in a chair with a fringed textile visible at left. She holds a book and wears dark clothing typical of the Victorian period. The image has a sepia tone characteristic of 19th-century photography.
