Absentee bids let you place your maximum bid on an item before the live auction begins. During the live show, we’ll continue bidding on your behalf up to your max bid — just like leaving a bid with a traditional auctioneer.
When you place an absentee bid, the system sets the current bid conservatively — just enough to keep you in the lead without revealing your full amount.
The current bid shown on each lot reflects all confirmed absentee bids and updates automatically as new bids come in.
When the live auction starts, bidding will begin at the current bid. The auctioneer will continue bidding on behalf of absentee bidders up to their max bids.
Because absentee bids can arrive seconds apart, the current bid you see may not always include bids still being processed. Refresh the page for the most up-to-date information.

Lot 038 - Antique New Hampshire Award for Service in World War I Bronze Cross Medal with Red, White, and Blue Ribbon, 1917-1919, Old Man of the Mountain Design
Antique bronze cross-shaped medal issued by the State of New Hampshire as an award for service in World War I, dated 1917-1919. The obverse features a central circular design depicting the Old Man of the Mountain with pine trees, surrounded by the inscription "New Hampshire Award for Service in World War," with the dates "1917" and "1919" at the base. The reverse displays a central laurel wreath enclosing a battlefield scene with a ship and rising sun, flanked by military branch insignia in the four arms of the cross including crossed rifles, a Marine Corps emblem, crossed signal flags, and a Corps of Engineers castle. The medal is suspended from a pin bar by a red, white, and blue grosgrain ribbon.
The ribbon shows soiling on the white stripe. The bronze has a brown patina with some surface discoloration and toning.
